I made a weird base

I saw someone doing something similar on Facebook: searched Google for "fractal" images, chose a suitable one, printed it, laminated it, and then cut off 23mm circles. I made ten and can do a lot more.

What do you think?

Not too bad, actually. Certainly nowhere near what you'd get with a gloss varnish though not quite matte either - maybe somewhat close to what you'd get using a satin varnish?

Once I'll get a couple of minis painted and manage to put them on the bases, I'll update.

What minis will be based on these? I could see them working for Cthulu or some other weird horror (Hellraiser?) setting for sure...

As for the shininess; how about a coat or two of mat varnish?

I was thinking that it could work for Daemons and Nightmares and similar extra-dimensional entities. But for these my immediate plan is actually to use them for Fae for Home Raiders. Extra-dimensional yes, but not in a sinister way. Still, them bringing some of their own dimension with them but it looking really weird in ours seems like it could work. We shall see.

It could work with wizards too, to give them more of an aura of 'otherness'.
