Look out for the gators
« on: January 09, 2016, 12:31:15 AM »
So, you have your party going through a swamp to their encounter and you want something in there, but you're on a budget. How about a Toob of 'gators for $4 (after their 60% off). Found at Michael's. Also comes with  two turtles and a "giant" snake.

Meant to grab them today to get some comparison pics with minis, but was running late. Also got Toobs with some ponies and "prehistoric" sharks. Ponies are kind of odd though. Thought I was grabbing another horse pack.

Great find!

I am constantly looking for these types of animal packages now. But they do seem to have dried up in recnt years?!

Used to be able to get all sorts of tubed and carded stuff in my local shops. Insects, African animals and sea life!

But they don't seem to stock them anymore?

I would rather see them before buying off the Net as well, so you can see the scaling! :D

Wow, I better check the Michael's around here!

I bought an African creatures Toob, which includes hippos roughly equal in size to 28mm figures. To further extend their use I pressed the top of the hippos' heads into a blob of Sculpey, poured a drop of resin into the depression and got some nice semi-submerged hippos.  ;)

That's an awesome idea.

Agree. I've cut the heads off cheap plastic hippos to get the same effect.

And done side impressions to simulate dead or wounded animals.

I cut a diagonal slice through the hippo to show them launching out of the water with their fearsome teeth/mouths.
