Suspended Bridge
« on: January 17, 2016, 03:59:59 PM »
I have made a few wooden or "stone" bridge, but making a suspended bridge that could be put anywhere seemed a bit difficult. The shape must give the illusion that the bridge has a weight, and be enough sturdy to be handled.
A cardboard structure was perhaps too soft, so I decided to use brass or iron wire instead. I used a drill to twist the wire and pass it through wood posts, and then added balsa planks.

The final result. Not detailed, but I plan to build another one with stone column and a fantasy flavour.

That looks very good.  :-*   Are you planning on adding some vertical ropes connecting the bridge with the guide ropes?

Hi,
Maybe, but unfortunately the planking is too tight to put the vertical ropes. I've seen this too late. This bridge was just an experiment quickly made. A positive experiment :)

Very slick.  Well executed too.

Thanks,

Working on the next one  ;D
It will be probably called "the Fourth Pillar of Madness", with a fantasy flavour. Just spended a few hours to glue my fingers more than the "stones". The ropes will be fixed in holes drilled in the mouths of Facebricks. Two pillar are to be made tomorrow... I hope

Best regards

Love the faces! Very inspired.

Finished the Fourth Pillars of Madness, and twisted some metal. The wire are just placed to give an overall impression. The first bridge is 10cm long between the posts, and I think that 20cm will give a kind of dramatic effect and a sense of danger for the infortunate miniatures crossing this. imagine crocodiles under or barbed stakes  :D

Main part of the brige finished, I will install the ropes after a coat of varnish.

Littles insects and animals added: a butterfly, a lizard, a snake. All are 1/87 scale. The length of the lizard is 3,5mm.
