1st Bengal Cavalry (1st Skinner's Horse)

Hi All,
I've looked through a few sources and I can't determine if the subject regiment was armed as lancers or regular cavalry after their name change in 1861 and more specifically during the 2nd Anglo-Afghan war. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did not become Lancers until 1895.

apparently many non-lancer regiments carried lances as necessary and often had at least one squadron so equipped.
