15mm marble columns
« on: January 24, 2016, 04:08:29 PM »
Just a test for a 15mm temple. Spend lot of time for that.
I hope that the rendering is good.

The complet pantheon temple coming soon.

They look good, but a bigger photo would be better.

That's much better, those have worked very well. I think I prefer the five to the left, the technique is a little lighter. How did you do them?

I will try to explain without picture (I apologize)

1 - use a clear, dry and white gloss support. (avoid gloss paint if there is some prush trace or trail)
2 - put some spot of very dilluted color.
3 - use a air dryer on most "cold" position, and push the drops all along the support with the flow until they are dry.
4 - repeat this operation until you will not too woried.
5 - Finally the column by drawing very thin lines of plain color to appear marble veins. Initially, I did paint some thiny white lines too, but in fact it is not necessary.

You must have a very pointed brush and watch a marble to inspire you of his veins patterns

Wow, those are stunning!  :o Especially the one leftmost - that is one of the best depictions of marble I have ever seen!
A technique I will definitely need to try.
Was this your first attempt? If so - congrats! Simply amazing!

For be honest, the best results are when you blow the drops with your mouth, but your head turn quickly with this method.  ;)
Air dryer is the best compromise.
