Storage for Reaper paints ideas desired
« on: February 02, 2016, 03:36:59 PM »
I am shifting to Reaper paints from craft paints and I am looking for a case that stores the paints ready to access when painting like Kaiser Rushforth trays/cases store my figures.

Input desired.

Edit:  Moderators, this didn't seem really a workbench subject but if deemed so please move.

If its the dropper style bottles something like

http://www.snmstuff.co.uk/vallejo-empty-presentation-case/

or even

http://www.fantization.com/Reaper_Paint_Caddy.aspx

Two great ideas!  Anyone else has a different solution storage answer (no pun intended) to suggest?

I use a couple of the Paintier 80 carousel systems to hold paints. They take Vallejo, Reaper and GW without any problems. They're on lazy Susans, so getting access to any paint isn't an issue.

I'm actually overflowing both of them o_o, but you can stack paints a couple of rows deep - just a bit of a pain to get at the ones behind.

The top of the carousel takes stuff too big to fit into the main body - MIG washes etc.

There are also a number of mdf paint holders now, which could be worth checking out.

edit: to fix name of product

Or, there's

KR case trays for dropper style bottles, but they are lying down, not standing which might be an issue for you?

I find that they rank up quite nicely in an IKEA cutlery tray (the cheap, white plastic version)
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 32

I've found three small box drawers at the local dollar store... I've glued three together to store my paint. Each small box hold 9 bottles of paint (Reaper or Vallejo types).
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Something like a Perspex/Plastic nail polish bottle wall rack should work. I've just ordered one for the same reason. When it arrives, it will be installed above my desk. I got a 96 bottle rack, which evidently holds more paint pots than that, although I have yet to see how many.

If they are the same size as Vallejo's, you might try white card boxes, those used for Magic: the Gathering. I recently switched over to Vallejo, and found the 300-count boxes will hold 20 paint bottles if you cut off the box lids and store the paint bottles upright (or upside-down so you can see the color!) The 400-count boxes will hold 28 bottles. After that the bigger boxes won't hold even amounts of bottles, leaving a space which allows all the bottles to fall over. The 300-count boxes cost me a $1 each, and hold enough to sort by colors, all my blacks, whites and washes in a box, all the flesh tones and their washes in another, etc.

My nail polish rack arrived today (never thought I'd ever say something like that...) and I checked. It has six "shelves" and each "shelf" fits twenty Valejo/Reaper bottles comfortably (maybe one or two more per shelf if they're sort of staggered), so that's 120 paints in total, which I'm pretty happy with. It's all Perspex/transparent plastic, so seeing which paint is which is not a problem. I'll be mounting it on the wall beside my desk tomorrow - looking forward to a nice afternoon of sorting my paints! Small pleasures, and all that....
