The Zombies board game would be my choice, cheap and simple with several expansions.

If so, I had fun with that, but almost always found that gameplay is too long.
Whenever one is nearing the chopper pad or last needed kills, someone would play a card to have him back at the town square or lose half his/her kills.
I had everything up to Zombies!!! 6, but just gave it away to a friend because after Zombicide I didn't want to play it anymore.
If I'd have to suggest something other than Zombicide, I'd say Last Night on Earth.
Also heard a lot of good things about Crossroads : Dead of Winter, but that is with standees, not figures.
And for all you Zombie nuts out there : Rise of the Zombies. A cardgame you play against the clock. Yes : real time. It's a blast !
