Napoleonic Danish-Norwegian Army 1803-14
First many thanks to Jørgen K. Larsen and David Wilson for their help in the research of this particularly confusing period of the Danish-Norwegian Army of the Napoleonic Wars. Jørgen and David have tracked down some very elusive information, Jørgen from archives in his native Denmark. Something I could never have come close to. It’s been a bit of a Napoleonic minefield as Jørgen so succinctly put it! This is why it’s taken quite a bit longer than I had envisaged releasing this range.
In general both the Denmark and Norway used the same uniforms regulations during this period as they were in close union at the time. I’ve designed most of the figures in the one piece gaiter-trousers which end over the foot fastened by buttons half way up the calf. Up to 1808 these were standard issue for all the infantry in both white summer/parade and blue ‘campaign’ versions. From 1808 onwards grey breaches were worn with short black gaiters half way up the calf. However stocks of old gaiter-trousers cut off at the mid-calf were also used with short gaiters up to 1814 particularly by Norwegian troops. The black gaiters can be easily painted on.
After 1808 the earlier gaiter-trousers are seen on parade.
Prior to 1808 knapsacks were carried on one strap over the right shoulder, after which they were carried in the conventional manner on two straps. Great coats were held in storage and only given out with the approaching winter; hence some codes don’t have them.
It's an extremely colourful army who fought on many fronts. For colour guides and organisation of this army Peter Bunde of Brigade Plates

The first ten codes are now available.
