Model Rail Scotland 2016-Show Pics (pic heavy)
« on: February 12, 2016, 07:02:30 AM »
I usually pimp this show out at this time of year. Strictly not a wargames show, but our model rail colleagues constantly provide a great source of inspiration and techniques we can all use on our tables.

Here's 2 of my favorite pics from last year....

Looking forward to your pics from this event as usual Andy. Some awesome modelling skills on display there. If only wargamers were half as discerning!  ;)

So, Colin and myself went to the rail show today. I can honestly say its been the best one I've been to. Any gamers in the Glasgow area looking for something to do, I'd highly recommend it. Its last day is tomorrow (Sunday), it's well worth it. You get a better selection of scenery than you get at any wargames show. I finally managed to get the sea moss trees I've been trying to source for ages and bags of different scatter to put on my bases to give (hopefully) that Autumn feel.

But enough of what I bought, the layouts were amazing! :o

I've got too many pictures and I've tried to narrow it down. I'll show some in installments. I'll show my favourites first.

The first one is made by a guy called Pete Goss. It's called the World's End after the Simon Pegg film. The man seems to sell his own painted figures. Hence the showcase with reenactment civil battle.

My second of my favourites is one without trains. It had running trams and buses. It's made by the same club that made the coastal board. The Model Railway Society of Ireland. It also had (if I can imbed a video, I'll show you) a fully working 15mm woman with bike. We couldn't fir the life of us work out how it was done. There's no slot in the board!! :o

And now the coolest....

Also spotted this on one of the trade stands. Fully moving parts! Its quite funny it had to be censored! lol

More later....

Are those Sealed Knot type re-enactors in one of those scenes? That's an amusing touch. Hard to tell but they seem a little too slim and there aren't enough glasses and digital watches to be strictly accurate.

Nice work, thanks for sharing the pics. I know from personal experience that attending model train can be quite traumatic, even more so than their wargaming counterparts but they do provide great inspiration for terrain modelling.

Heard about this on the radio today and wondered if you two would pop along.
I've got a few books by chaps who build these dioramas and there's some good tips and inspiration in them.

Thanks for the pics.
Don't!

Probably a moving magnet underneath. It's how the buses, etc move on these tables.

No problems fellas! They done all the work, I just pointed my camera in their general direction and snapped away.

Its quite funny. I showed my mate in work some of these pics and he noticed it straight away, I hadn't even seen it.....theres a person sleeping under the table in this pic.... lol lol lol

Some more pics....

I'm not sure if the panorama image I used for the first pic will come across right on the forum. It looks good on a camera phone.

Some other layouts....
