Offensive miniatures open for business
« on: December 12, 2008, 09:16:16 AM »
As the title says Offensive miniatures have opened their webstore for business.

First releases are Shane Hoyle's amazing U.S. paratroopers, with plenty of product in the pipeline for the coming months including Swat, Terrorists, Riot police and rioters.

Looks interesting...But.

I can't easily find - well, I haven't found it yet - what scale they are?

Assuming they are 28mm - how do they compare with BAM, Artizan and others?

28mm to the eye, so 30mm to the top of the head.
Will have to get some of BAM and Artizan's figures to put side by side for a comparison pic.

That would be a great idea. I am really keen on these miniatures, but they won't do if they don't look good on the table with the rest of them.

I saw these miniatures in the fles at parade ground & they are fantastic (the free figure for buying all the para's is superb, just a shame i don't do US Para's) they looked about the same size as Artizan.

While the paras look incredible I am eagerly awaiting the Napoleonics.

That said, when the Naps are ready I have a sneaking suspicion some paras will wind up in my order.

Haven't seen them in the flesh yet, and truthfully US paras (yet more US paras!!!) don't rock my boat in general, but I have to say from the pictures, those are some of the best looking 28mm WWII miniatures I've ever seen.

The riot police also look fantastic, and the Future Wars types none too shabby. If they scale in with Copplestone, I'd certainly consider them.

All the Napoleonic stuff - meh.
Sorry Ian, it's not that it's not good sculpting work, it's just that (apart from the intrigue of the new Victrix plastics) I find Napoleonics deathly dull, and I never cease to be amazed that manufacturers keep churning out more and more and more Napoleonic French and British ranges. Surely there can't be a wargamer left on the face of the planet who hasn't already got Napoleonic French if he wants Napoleonic French?

Still, think we've had this conversation here before...  ;)

I understand the good Captain's reservations, but Napoleonics is one of those few niches in the hobby that is almost always a sure and steady seller. I know some people who ONLY game it and are daft enough to collect seperate armies depending on campaign (they will not use their 1809 French in a Waterloo game, for example). It is also a period that requires masses of troops, so it tends to be more profitable than skirmish genres.

I just saw the Polish lancer on the "coming attractions" page and I think I have soiled myself! ;D

I must confess that they are really impressive!

They are a little more expensive too, about £1.5 to £2 per mini. I don't like the fact that all the three squads have a B.A.R. gunner instead of a .30 MMG team. It's a bit difficult to have a platooon with 2 squads with .30 without buying extra (and finally useless support teams).

Hello,

I just wanted to say all the very best for your company and what's going to be more quality figures in the market place.

Helen
Best wishes,

Looking forward to those riot cops and terrorists. Already got dozens of the Foundry Street Violence figures, gangsters and hookers and booze galore, but those I am in dire need of.

Looking forward to those riot cops

I hadn't noticed those- somewhere else (under FW) a thread is discussing what minis to use for that...  ;D

Besides: Imagine a section of riot cops blocking a street to stop a rioting mob - only to find the mob consisting of shambling corpses.....  8)
