Thanks Iain, after a lot of experimentation I went with the Andrea White set for the 'whites' ; roughly four pots excluding the base coat and finally VMC Ivory.

I'm really happy with the subtle results :)

Darrell
WELL done! It' looks white without looking GOOFY white like one sees too often (a colour which wouldn't be seen on Campiagn especially in 19th century India). I like to use Foundry Rawhide B, Rawhide C, highlighted with Vallejo Game Colour Bone White.

Funny, to get a similar 'white' I used to use the Foundry Boneyard Triad but by starting with Boneyard B and just adding VMC Ivory (it's a treasure of a colour for highlighting) to get this type of 'white'. I've never tried Rawhide but might give it a go as a base colour on one of the other regiments as soon as the Blue Caps are done.

to be honest it was a bit of a struggle to get the right hue for the worn looking 'whites'. I tried quite a few combinations before I settled on the Andrea 'White' box set which with the addition of VMC Ivory added for the highlights I think turned out rather well.

Andrea paints are very good and dry to a very flat matte which helps with further highlighting. The one small problem I have with them is that they tend to be very chalky and oddly you have to be careful that you don't add too much water (at 28mm scale) as they quickly become very this if this is so. I used about six layers on the uniforms including the final highlight :)

Cheers,
Darrell.
