Trouble finding Ariete Logo in use - North Africa
« on: April 18, 2020, 09:14:58 PM »
So, I am finally getting back to a long standing army, as my gaming group has started talking about North Africa again, and I am having trouble finding any images that give me any idea what it would look like to have the Ariete ram painted on a vehicle.

I found several photos with reference to it being on the side of a command car, but not ONE has a good angle of the image.  Anyone have any help for me?

I have Company B's delightful Fiat 508, and I want to use it as a Captain in transport, so I want the ram on the doors, but I can't find any images of it actually in use.

Had a look in Frank Chadwick's Benghazi Handicap - it has a nice set of drawings of DAK vehicle insignia. But for the Italians it just has collar patches!

It does say in the text
"Later in the campaign the Ariete division began painting stylised rams heads on their tanks and perhaps some soft vehicles."

So confirmation it was done, but not of what.

It's referenced in Iron Hulls (one of the shots that you can kinda see it at an angle), but there's no sign of it in Armour Camouflage & Markings by Bradford, and those are the only two I have currently.  I have some other books on their way, but I thought I would ask here.

If his site gave me a shipping quote, I'd be more likely.  Australia to the US is usually not cheap, but it won't give me an estimated shipping.
