Nice work! Love the Mentor Legion. I'm tempted to do some up myself, but I have too many projects going right now. These look great and I like the use of the new Horus Heresy parts.

Spellcrow (a resin company in Poland) sells them on eBay for very reasonable prices.  Oddly they came with a bunch of "freebies" from the rest of their resin range - almost more freebies than jump packs.  I have 10 more on the way.

Thanks for the tip :D Need to order few and see how they work with the "truescale" marines, I have five more in the pipeline.

I would think they'd actually work quite well, as they're quite large --- problem being mounting them to the back of the terminator torsos you're using.  I'd think they'd work fine though.

I kit-bashed this fella together yesterday.  Please ignore the legs as that was some kind of damage control (dip gunked up overnight and I had to scrape it off...tried to paint it and it looks like shite - may fix this later, maybe not.  Concentrate on the top half!

The Mentor Legion always grabbed my attention because of their colour scheme, but also their purpose (at least according to the old White Dwarf - I'm sure revisionist history has changed this...).  They existed as a training cadre and a development group for weapons used by Space Marine chapters.  Their Chapter Master was given final say on whether or not technology would be produced - weighing the pros/cons etc.  They also had a huge store of knowledge, loaning out military advisors (small teams of "cadre") to observe, train and fight.  Think, a bit like special forces --- training locals and spreading knowledge, while gathering knowledge from friendly countries etc.

So, with some heresy bits and a mechanicum head, I made this fella:

I figure any Space Marine chapter working on weapons development/testing would have heavy links/ties to the factories that would be building the stuff.  I wanted to add some weird flavor.  Several of the sergeants/officers will probably have mechanicum heads etc.

Oh, I guess I should apologize for having dark green shoulder pads...it's a look I liked, and have decided to stick with!  lol  This thread is not for purists! :D

I cut the terminator torso, or just the rear torso part that is used, flat. So there will be no extra bits and bobs or gubbins there, just flat surface. Hopefully it will work :)

Great idea and work with the terminator  :-* The more out of the box, the better! That white looks awesome, something I would love to achieve on my fellas as well.

So, continuing my little space marine project...here is a...techno-Chaplain?  And a teaser for something I'm slapping together.  I'm also re-doing the legs on the terminator from before.  Will have cleaner paint.  I broke him off his old set and will provide him with new legs, free of charge (for a small insurance co-pay).

The techno-chaplain is as grand as his predecessors in the thread. I think I'm going to like what's being teased even better  8) 8) 8)

Yeah I thought about trying the old RT era logo...but then realized if I tire of these I'll sell them, so I ditched the "solidly Mentor" thing and I'm just going to leave them blank.

Besides I already went off canon by painting the left shoulder pads green...just think it looks better that way!  I've got a handful of models on the table for these guys at the moment.

These are very nice - I like the look and feel you've created with them.
