WWWII and Flames of War
« on: December 16, 2008, 04:41:03 PM »
Being a Flames of War player and loving the idea of WWWII I was wondering if it could be combined or if it already has? Are there any suitable 15mm models out there that could be bent to WWWII FoW? If there isn't anything what units would you want to see?

I play Crossfire for WWII, using 15mm figures.

I bought some of these for use as both Zombies and Civilians: ebay link, although you can get them painted too: painted ebay link, which although they're a little thinner than most white metal 15mm figures, work pretty well.

(Yeah I know the name of the trader sounds suspect, but I found them OK, and I know at least one other person who has found them fine, too).

GZG and 15mm.co.uk both have grey aliens if that is the kind of WWWII game you want.  15mm.co.uk also have some stuff in their fantasy line that might be suitable - wraiths, skeletons, monsters, elementals, etc. Even Owlbears with Jazz Hands! How much more weird could you possibly want! ;)

I've also picked up some old 4" Robotech toys from ebay that I am going to use as Mecha - although I'll probably use them for both WWWII and sci-fi in 15mm.

What kind of weird-war action are you thinking about doing?

Well I've never really delved into WWWII before, but I'd love to add a bit of imagination to my FoW games, it'd probably mainly futuristic tech stuff and nazi zombies, probably based around a german grenadier company.

In theory, the old Gear Krieg line was 1/100 or 15mm (yes, yes, scale discrepancy, I know, yadda yadda). Sometimes, they still pop up on eBay and in bargain bins, although apparently DP9 still sell some (if they are still in business, not sure about that). So there you could get a bunch of various Walker variants, and rather nice concepts, too.

Perhaps you want to check out these as well...

They have a quite sinister look - for 15mm. :o

TANK POLO? God, how our gardener hated that game!

Gear Krieg works very fine with FoW.
See my Longstreet walker next to a Grant:

and some more:

They are all available from DP9.
See: http://store.dp9.com/index.php?cPath=38_44
You even have 15mm minis for German Rocket troops, Zombies and US Heli Troops!

IMO still one of the best designed and established weird war setting.
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - http://www.adpublishing.de

They look really cool! Thanks for the link. I'm now dreaming of shocking my almost 'hyper-historical' friends with fielding a WWWII force -
'Yeah that walker there thats a Tiger MkIVG, though we can play it as a Tiger IE if you like...'
'Yeah those guys with Rockets on the back, yeah their Experimental Fjallskirmjagers with rocket packs, but we'll just pretend they're normal FJ since Battlefront hasn't produced rules for them yet. Oh, you've never heard of them before, let me tell you...'

I think you might find my Flames of War, Landkreuzerkompanie of interest. It's based off the P1000 Landkreuzer, a paper panzer that would have been pretty insanely huge. Turned out the GW baneblade was the perfect size for it for Flames of War :) .

And here's the whole gallery:

Would you believe I've never played them? Not a huge wargaming circuit here in Sri Lanka.
