Ok I need to ask, what's up with that undercoat? It looks pre-weathered pretty nicely. did you use some special kind of spray or just two colours together or what?

It was a mistake.....

I sprayed on a grey undercoat and then tried to match the grey colour when adding some cast effect to the hull.

When the paint dried it was a slightly different colour.

I have added some cast numbers to the rear of the hull.

And some more pronounced cast hull texture to the tank.

Going back to the primer, I just picked up some Valspar plastic primer at lunchtime from B&Q. No idea if it's any good, but I'll give it a try on some spare plastic at the weekend. They also do a direct "paint on plastic" spray, but they only had black and dark green.

The tank is shaping up nicely. Will be interesting to see the camouflage effect on it

Looks great. Are you going to do the salt and hairspray weathering/rust effect on it?

No - at this moment the plan is to use a sponge effect as see here;

Nice. I'm also glad I'm not the only one to write month/year on my pots of paint.

Great progress on the paintjob; looking better and better! 8)

And this is an excellent idea. Why didn't I think of this before? I'll be adopting this practice with my next paint purchase for sure...  :D

The painting of the camouflage colours was also done with a broken sponge.....

The chipping used the same technique.
