Looks like a very effective way of batch painting undead. The other minis are great too!

What a gem of a thread, inspiring scenery and crisp clean painted mini's.

Got to love the "grey" zombies!

Excellent stuff.  The warbands that you have worked on so far are very good. Looking forward to more!

It definitely is, I did 24 zombies like this in a few hours.

I really like the zombies.  I have that set and am trying to figure out how to paint them up.  Great job.

This is a great thread - I don't check in on the Frostgrave board enough. Love your sculpting, it's really concise - I'm still waiting for you to finish those 17mm sculpts from a couple of years ago! Really great stuff here.

The zombies look great, they fit the setting perfectly.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

I've had some Photobucket issues so lost the last few posts images... I bit the bullet and paid £100 odd to save my 3000+ images spread across multiple miniature forums.

Anyway back on topic... I recently revamped all my terrain. After looked at lots of reference images I noticed that snowy stone castles are actually wet stone castles, covered in lots of grime and streaks.

Next I want to add some dead and withered foliage in places and then consider my desired snow effect. My previous effort looks like someone dropped yoghurt on the ruin... alas I decided to scrap it and will use it as a test bed for future ideas.

This is definitely a seasons game for me  :)

Thank you.

Mostly just the horrible low quality white polystyrene! Clad with some foam board in places.

The effect is really achieved by crudely scoring and indenting the polystyrene, followed by textured paint and sand/rubble in all the corners and cracks. I think subtle layering is the key effect to finish it off, both with painting and texture. Selective dry brushing also plays a part, as does shading in the recesses.

Two more layers to come, dead vegetation and then snow.
