Raging Heroes http://www.ragingheroes.com/ Blood Vestalslook more than adequate to raise a
Garde du Corps for such princess:
While when discovering them most people think only 'Dark Elves /
[potentially] Eldars', I needed not the be influenced by the recent Disney movie to immediately think: *
Barsoom*!

It was suggested that there is no need at all for a scifi variant to use the Blood Vestals in an ERB-influenced Mars setting: very simple conversions using e.g. Dark Eldar Splinter Pistols would suffice. True, but not all of us feel confident enough to play miniature surgeon. Besides, it can be hoped that 'John Carter' will attract newcomers to Barsoomian wargaming: the availability of ready-made SF Blood Vestals would make taking the plunge easier.
On their blog, the people of Raging Heroes are *asking for suggestions* for these planned SF variants:
http://www.ragingheroes.com/blogs/newsPerusing previous entries show that they studied and took very seriously the proposals and feed back posted there when designing the Fantasy Vestals.
For me I suggested to avoid weapons too typically ‘40K’, which would prevent from using the minis in many Science Fantasy / Planet sword & sandal settings. And the girls are so elegant, gross-looking hardware would be totally inappropriate. If (tacitly: ® ™ ˘!) Dark Eldars are taken as inspiration the risks are lesser than with Orks or IG; yet strength / power blades with power cable, chainswords… would be totally out of place in ERB-type settings. Bronze Age “Not Red Martians” offer good examples of weapons equally compatible with steampunk and futurism.
Beyond SF variants of the Blood Vestals I suggested (for both Fantasy and SF)
riding variants that could be put, not only on warhorses from an adequate 'mainstream' historical range, but also on Parroom Station and Shadowforge mounts (the Vestals are cast in metal to allow some bending of limbs).
