That's the general uncertainty I have about limos, even armoured limos - they're more for driving out of firefights, not into them.

But the limo look is just too cool to ignore.

Nice, are you going for the stretch hummer limo look?
I guess that's the closest -although the for end is more Hummer than the aft end.

It is a weakness of *our* universe that we are unlikely to see Obama and Putin leading mass tank charges against each other across the plains of Germany from the sunroofs of armoured limos while waving chainswords

Hmm, well my limo might get some firepower for those special occasions when the old man/lady wants to get in claw range.

Here's the chassis in progress: I went for version 2 in the end (which means I have an extra Ramshackle chassis for another project  :D ) - the Tamiya remote.

I boxed it in with plasticard, applied sealer, and had to stop there to allow it to cure before sanding. I left the sloping sides at the top and the grooved surface. I removed the Tamiya logo and brand name earlier by sanding, and added the extractor grille on top (I bet a Patriarch/Matriarch stinks to high heaven, and any other passengers, and the driver, will be glad of this feature) and something very useful: the magnet, which can be seen in the roof. That will be related to the afore-mentioned firepower - removable, for those less warlike state occasions where a gun turret or missile launcher (still to decide which, unless I do both as alternative options) is a bit of a faux pas.

The mudguards and wheels will be stuck to the side. I could have made them recessed into the chassis, but (i) this will reduce the boxiness of the shape and (ii) is easier to build!

Looking good, sir.
The reasoning works for me and I am enjoying watching the progress.

Thanks Mason, I think this is one I AM going to finish - having fun with it. I dug up a few more bits for the limo in the meantime, in particular a pile of as yet unused Ramshackle accessories - and found some potential windows.
As for the turret options: I think I'll have 3 different ones, + the no-turret.

@Diablo Jon - thanks for the link, that was educational. I'm tempted to add a roof hatch now (besides the turret!). Couldn't help th nking what the hail of shells would do to the paintwork as they clattered on the roof (let alone the target).

Speaking of paintwork - I still am VERY undecided on the colour scheme. Probably not purple, although I might go for a dark blue. But I am also tempted by black, white, and desert sand....

And as concerns targets: the inquisitor types in another thread - and some Space Wolves recently purchased here too - will be at the receiving end; although they can dish out punishment too. And THEIR personal mount is just a little bit bigger than the limo.......although not much longer than it. The limo gets a pair of escorts, though, Rhinos, which will probably act as shields and try to block the Inq.'s own transport whilst the Limo speeds away.

Some weekend progress:

Poor shot of the plan view - it's NOT as distorted as it appears here! I just included this pic to show the wheel layout, the middle pair of wheels bearing the weight of the engine and turret.

The tail end, with an emergency exit for the Patriarch.

The front end, now with headlights.

Turret option no. 2, for the less ostentatious.

Turret option no. 1 - a proper turret.

I'll probably add a missile launcher option, besides the no-turret variant.
I used the magnet I'd showed previously and a metal flexible sheet on the underside of the turrets to hold these in place.

Sequence of work to follow:
Filler in newly-fitted parts.
Wheels.
Doors.
Further details.
Missile launcher turret.
Other details.
Further filling and cleaning.
Painting (and I am still undecided on the colour).

Coming along nicely. I think I prefer the smaller turret to the bigger one.

Thank you.
I'm retaining both, as I'm using magnets to keep them in place - but I see your point, it's more limo thn the other.

I like this!
A different kind of 'limo' but it certainly works for me.

Looking good there, fellow limo-builder! :D

The shapes are working great together; you picked just the right base for the body I reckon.

I will have to echo the turret sentiment; the small one works best, simply due to the nature of the vehicle. However; due to the size of the beast, the large turret visually works as well, so smart move retaining the option to have both.

I'm curious to see this monster on wheels, especially to see how much it will be raised up; my attempt will be having as little clearing as possible, as I'm giving it a bit of a hotrod/lowrider look.

One can only hope that the roadways of a typical hive city are well paved and cared for, or my limo will be confined to the upper crust parts of town... ;)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...
Find a Way, or make one!

Thanks Daeothar.
A wheel test shows the beast will be quite low, so mine too wil be stuck to roads - and it has 16 tyres for a very good reason, it's armoured, carries a Primarch, has a large engine and fuel tank and a gun turret too. It would instantly disappear in a squelch in wet soil.
