Perilous Island Abilities question
« on: March 19, 2016, 03:26:46 PM »
A quick question about how to apply some of the Perilous Island abilities in lower ranking league members. Some abilities such as Mindless say shift up one dice type the characters Brawl & Might but shift down one dice-type its Cunning and Finesse.
Big is similar but  for Health and Might and Finesse & Dodge respectivley.
If this is an Ally (or a follower for Mindless) and they only get D6 dice-types how do you  shift them down one type? Do they go to D4? I thought D6 was the minimum dice-type rolled in the game?

In those cases they lose the ability entirely (and thus automatically fail all checks for that ability).

It's similar to the way Animal removes a character's shoot skill.

FF is 100% correct.  ;)

I'll cover a few other bits from page #2 of the rulebook "Rolling Dice" --

1. We do not use a die type bigger than d12 or smaller than d6 in Pulp Alley.
2. If a modifier would shift a character's skill die-type over d12 - then you roll d12 for that skill.
3. If a modifier would shift a character's skill die-type below d6 - then they can not roll any dice for that skill. Effectively, this means they automatically fail if they end up in a situation that can only be solved by this one skill.

Please let us know if other questions come up. THANKS for playing Pulp Alley!  :D
