Hugomf's workbench
« on: December 23, 2008, 06:40:19 PM »
So, for the last couple of days I've finally started to work on my first batch of pulp figures.

Couple more to go before I start some artizan cultists.

Thoughts?  :D
Regards, HugoMF

Excellent group of adventurers.

Looks like the "Prof" figure came out very nice indeed.

A good start - nice neat painting.

Thoughts:
1. I don't really like high gloss figures, but that's personal taste.
2. It looks like you've used a dip or 'quickshade' type product too? This sometimes results in pooling of brown varnish (which is basically what the stuff is). I think I can see this on your figures. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

But if these are your first figures, they are pretty darn good.
Keep going. The more you do, the better you get  :)

My thoughts were

1. Thats the ultimate pulpy selection of miniatures you could imagine.

2. The Prof. figure really does look like Richard Branson.

They look pretty good to me. I do not like shiny figs either but I was impressed by the degree of gloss on the base edges although I do my pulp and BoB stuff with terrain coloured edges.

I'll try to get a clear picture of him tonight, I'm still trying to get group photos of the minis (and failing).

Thats a flash problem, I havent even applied varnish on them. The only glossy part is the base, due to the Tamiya black.

Nope, I used Vallejo Thinner to make washes and applied them over a solid coat of color. I tried giving the GW washes a try, but I disliked the final results and ended up stripping the figure and repainting.

when are you going to start painting your cultists?  :)

Cheers,

Right after I paint one or two more adventurers! The cultists are going to be way much faster to paint (they all look alike, and with some block painting and the right amount of wash they should be easy) and I should have them ready before the end of the year  :D

Good for Pulp.

What a classic setting of figs.

Who/what do you use for villains?

Im working on some artizan cultists (for a more cthulhu-esque setting), and waiting for some foundry "canibals" for some jungle adventuring.
