Terrain advice needed.
« on: March 26, 2016, 03:32:29 AM »

I'm making some ground tiles out of showerboard, so we can use dry erase markers on it.

I need to lay down a 1 inch by 1 inch grid on it.

I' thought about using auto-pinstriping. In the past I used a ruler, a blade and clamps to make cuts, but every so often I'd lose control and make a mark on the board, plus, it was very labor intensive.

Any ideas or tools that I could use to lay down a permanent grid? ( I'm tried ink pens, the ink never stays). I'd really prefer grooves. Each tile is about a foot by a foot in size.

Thanks for any ideas.

( and no, I don't want to use a mat with wet erase markers. I prefer the boards).

Look at LitkoAero for templates. IIRC they have a 1" square grid template.

And Chessex mats won't work because...?

Use two rulers. Clamp one in place. Press the second against the first with a spare blade between them at each end and clamp it in place.

Using a table saw you could try to put a small cut in it, at the desired areas...then fill with paint/ink.

Well.....That might be the solution. two metal rulers...I could use a dremel tool to make the grooves. Long as I don't cut too deep.
