Latest Project: 15mm Pig-Faced Orcs with custom warbeast
« on: March 28, 2016, 09:46:05 PM »
Cry havoc and let slip the hogs of war!

Wait, what?

Warband of 15mm Pig-Faced Orcs from Splintered Light Miniatures.  Very nice sculpts, obviously inspired by the artwork of the early days of D&D/AD&D.  The Hellhog is a kitbash of a random model from the local feed store with a scratchbuilt howdah crewed by more SLM orcs.

Lovely variety of sculpts in the infantry, although as always my camera struggles with 15mm scale closeups.

Those are some very nice figures, and you've painted them splendidly. The warbeast certainly looks the business; Hogs of war, indeed! Thank you for sharing!

Those are some nicely painted miniatures, but the facial expression of the warpig is just priceless  :D

Interesting to see those pigfaces with brownish skin, I am still stuck with the mental image of "Orc=Greenskin"...

The small scale really helps in invoking a horde feeling.

Beautiful and  funny army.  :-*

Is the opponent an army of big bad wolves aiming for a huge barbecue?  ;D

Cheers

Thanks, all.  They were a fun project to paint, and I'm impressed by how well the sculptor captured the original D&D concept art look.  Not sure about an OpForce for them.  Probably enough weres and giant wolves out there in 15mm to do a Big Bad army (the Armies of Arcana range had a bunch all by itself, although I'm not sure Lone Gunman Games is still trading) but building a bunch of straw, wood, and brick houses for terrain seems like more trouble than it's worth.  :)
