Okay not quite "Big Battalions" but certainly belonging to that age. Last weekend the premier wargames centre in the area "The Grimsby Wargames Society" hosted a recreation of the Four Days Battle in 1666. Three Dutch fleets at anchor rapidly hoisting sail as four English fleets descend on them. The game had over a hundred and fifty superbly modelled ships from club members Steve & Andy and it was a real pleasure to play the game.

After a day long wargame the outcome was a draw since the English had forced more Dutch ships to retire but the Dutch had managed to capture two ships including one of the English flagships.
A great game and great fun.

Rules used were a set written by the guys themselves for quick play but based on "Topsail & Whipstaff".

All the models are from Langton Miniatures.

Simply stunning - Stecal I haven't even bothered to rig any of my Langton's, so anyone that does at least one gets my respect. But 150? That's madness.
