@Lt Hazel--Really impressed by the shields and the grey dappled horse.
@Darth--Wonderfully expressive face on the on the rider. Also, I am always impressed by how you get your colors to pop, particularly the yellow/light brown in this case.

Two excellent scenes !!!

I like the freeze frame on Harold's death (arrows, knocked soldiers...)

I like historical painting on medieval soldiers (sober and efficient) and the background (house, haystacks...) too.

Jan, my yellow is always built up from brown (usually leather brown or vomit brown) as a base,
then either a desert yellow or GW darksun as a mid-tone
then straight yellow as a highlight (usually Vallejo bad moon or sun yellow).
Sometimes I add a diluted wash of GW yellow wash or a super diluted yellow ink wash depending on my mood or how much blending I did building up through the colours.

I find the process variable depending on what I use each time and how much blending I do in each stage but the basic colour recipe seems to work.

A grey horse. I wish I wish I could paint grey horses. Come to that any horses would be good. In the meantime I'll just have a to look at lovely painting like that.
