Beautifully done. Full of character, which is not easy to achieve.

Excellent painting - fully evocative of the period.  And Scarab aren't even my favorite castings (can't get over the massive hands).

Really nice job  :-* I like the "depth" of the blue uniforms.

Terrific paint jobs! The horizon blue is especially good. I was painting a couple of these this week and they are full of character, if a bit bigger than some of the other French out there.
Good choice of backdrop too - is it a battle mat or something?

Thanks James!
Actually the backdrop is just a sheet of A4 paper with a printed image I found somewhere on the internet - I think I just googled for "free backgrounds for miniatures" or somesuch.
Yes the minis are on the large side & those hands are kind of huge, but they are great to paint & have a lot of character I reckon :)

Thanks  :)
My recipe for Horizon Blue is:
50/50 mix of Vallejo Field Blue & Reaper HD Winter Blue for base
Apply Secret Weapon Blue Black Wash
Paint back over with base colour & then gradually lighten base colour with Derivan Light Grey Blue.

The Derivan paint is now out of production, but you can probably find a similar light bluish grey in another range. The application of the wash really helps to give depth to the figures - I use the Secret Weapon brand of washes all the time in my painting, so many useful colours. It may be worth noting that I use a light grey undercoat for my figure painting, so I'm not sure what my recipe would look like over black.
I hope that helps.

I have found the Army Painter Wolf Grey paint (available in pots and sprays) an ideal grey blue to use as a base for horizon blue.

Nice looking figs
I always liked Scarabs miniatures, to bad they haven't released any new ones
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.
