If somebody makes the figs and I'll buy them with glee, I'm sure others will too.
Take them or leave them at your pleasure like anything else

Despite my comments about the source art I'd withhold a buying decision until I see what a sculptor comes up with. I have a pile of American Rocket Troops that also have some terribly unrealistic features to them (all of them would suffer from horrible butt burns) but the sculpts look quite nice.

If someone could sculpt something that looked a little more stable then I'd probably be interested.

My apologies for misunderstanding the tone of your comment but I think its a nice illustration of how easy it is for people to take messages the wrong way

Check your inbox for an apology for that.

Thankyou, I appreciate that  :)

Fair enough, I quite understand your perspective.
For me the kewl factor simply ouweighs that consideration

that, plus the German development of Neinbuttokflammenpantzin material in 1948 solved this technical dillemma  :D

There is that. I like the Pulp Figures rocketmen (as you can tell :-) even though there is no way you would expect the rockets to stay strapped to their bodies.

Even the Darkson figs suffer from the same problem

I think I watch too much Mythbusters

Here, to cheer you up, feel free direct your dislike at my Düsen-Jäger jetpack Fallschirmjäger: ;)

When converting these, the first thing I added was a blast deflector plate to protect their buttocks, but obviously it's the greatest problem/flaw with any such design. I guess the West Wind Power Armour Droptroops are the best take on the subject when it comes to protection, and while big, their jets do look the part (although I left the wings off mine, too clunky for my taste).

Right now I use Jim's rocket troops and they LOOK very WWII and tech possible.  They look and armed for the part.  Explosives and a flamethrower sounds pretty good to me for a jetpack unit to have if not being used as recon.

Yup, some endpieces from a mobilé set I got cheap at my local craft store back then. Added fins, butt plate and details with plasticard.

I like the idea of these for the Projekt X units, as it fits with some of the original background for the Walkuries  :o

However I was somewhat inspired by the "worst case scenerio" trailers for a very different kind of X soldat fallschrimjager! :D

Kind regards

It's a crazy design. It won't work. So why not try to make a more "realistic" miniature instead of one that is clearly flawed
It is a crazy design, beyond that it's a pretty crazy idea.
But it did work.
It's hard to make anything more "realistic" than stuff that's real.

Is it Impractical?  Yes, I think so.  Is it Unrealistic?  Apparently not.

And yes, more than one show qualifies as "too much" mythbusters.

Where are you seeing some indication that these designs worked?

Who says it has to be flames coming out of the rocket packs?  Perhaps highly compressed Vril-Fusion generators.  The stuff emitted out the back could be cool exhaust or just directionally vented vapors to aid in steering, with actual flight generated by some anti-grav generators.  The improbable can be explained away with some imagination or madness or foolishness.   :D

This is what I envision when I see those in action.
