Songs of Drums and Tomahawk
« on: April 20, 2016, 09:02:09 PM »
Second game of Songs of Drums and Tomahawks.

It in my mind what I like is the aspect of the models firing and not always having time to reload and being forced to up and at them with a Tomahawk.

The French markers are for hidden deployment.

Sorry about picture

Thanks, David! I think that is also one aspect of the game -- decision making -- which gives it that added thrill. You are constantly called upon to make choices that impact the game in a dramatic way. We've all played games where the action is dictated: We simply wait for our turn, then roll the dice and hope for the best. Not so with Song of Drums and Tomahawks.

I like your flags for hidden deployment markers. Another idea is to use woodland animals -- deer, foxes, etc. Not only do they add a scenic aspect, it makes sense when you remove that dummy marker. "Oh, it was just a deer that I heard moving...!"

If you happen to live in the United States -- especially the Midwest or East -- look for a convention in which Iron Wind Metals is attending as a dealer. They have the old Ral Partha 25mm line and it has an amazing number of woodland animals -- foxes, badgers, beavers, deer, bears, wildcats...you name it! They bring them in plastic bins in which you sort through and buy by the weight. Every visit to their booth sees me ending up with silver fingers from sorting through the pewter...

Here's a pic that Iain found online showing just some of their animals.

Here's some of mine painted up for Hordes of the Things fantasy... lol
