Samurai Castle - Tower (paper model terrain)
« on: May 03, 2016, 07:23:21 AM »
Hi all,

I am a creator of paper model terrain and working on a modular Samurai Castle. Right now I am finishing the first part, the Tower. Ever since I saw the "Shogun" mini series back in the 80ies I fell in love with the traditional Japanese architecture and I always wanted to build a castle in the right scale for gaming.

Here is a pic showing three levels in Matsumoto style.

The walls and roofs are all detachable and you can build from a single level to as high as you want.

As you can see it's compatible with figures in 25-30mm size "out of the box" (printed at 100%) and could be printed at other scales for other sizes.

There are a couple of texture versions available for walls and roof allowing to build almost any castle of the feudal Japan area.

Here you can see that there are also inside textures available if required for RPG or skirmish gaming. The roof is showing the green version of Osaka castle.

In the pipeline are also sets for walls and gate and finally a keep (see the concept art below)

I am looking forward to hear how you like this and if you have ideas/feedback/wishes to enhance this.

Chris

Very nice indeed.
Add a bamboo garden and you're all set to recreate the epic movie Castle of Owls.

Thanks!  :)

I like the idea with the Bamboo garden. I have to go to our local botanical garden. They have bamboo growing there and make some sketches. I always miss nice paper plants. Maybe I can come up with something in that direction.

A little update: before continuing with the next sets of the Samurai Castle series I was asked if I could do a 15mm version. So right now I am in the process of creating optimized new layout files for that purpose.

Top roof page (all 4 original pages fit into one  :))

Test build of a 15mm tower (vs the 28mm tower)
