Thanks all  :D

I reckon I have another 3 or 4 hobby days of GS work to do: the Afghans are really easy but the mounted 9th Lancers will take quite a bit more effort (though I've already done all the necessary research for the dismounted men and their horses).
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 32
(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Some progress .... (Pre fine tuning)

The Afghan foot are mostly from ACW Perry Zouaves and Sudanese Ansar, though there are also a couple in the image from AWI Militia in hunting shirts (with the shirts becoming jackets).

Getting closer to completing the first push of GS... Only 7 rifles and 4 swords remaining

That said, I've decided that the Afghans need some proper command and control so have ordered the parts for a further three minis to comprise mounted chief, banner and drummer with foot alternates (hmmm I'm now thinking maybe it should be 4 to include a horse holder....)

I've now added a page on force organisation to my website, which shows the make up of the various units as they'll be played with for a test of my SAG rules.

Brilliant, each one a completely unique figure. Fabulous (the project, not you, just to be certain this time.  :D )

Excellent greenstuffing. The turbans are extremely well done.

Thanks Richard but they really are dead simple: just a smear, a poke and a swipe.  :D

Any ways, 56 foot, 8 mounted and 8 loose horse have now had their first push of GS. I'm not one for doing a lot of smoothing while the putty is still soft; I much prefer to polish (ie, finely abrade, scrape) the cured surface with a very sharp scalpel. With that in mind, and as something of a project milestone, here's mini number 72, pre-polishing.

All that said, there are still 6 more minis to do, namely the Afghan Chief and Banner Bearer, mounted and also on foot with loose horses (I've decided not to bother with the drummer, as a flag is all the rules require to double his command radius).

Thanks Nick.  ;)

And finally, the Afghan Command in mounted and foot variants: chief and banner.

These were a last minute addition. The sprues arrived yesterday - 1 of the ACW Zouave Command and 1 of the 3 WotR horses - and were promptly assembled using odd parts from the bits box: eg, the chief on foot is actually a WotR body while the mounted chief uses the Luger arm from the Afika Korp set (but converted to a revolver) and binoculars from Colonial British Infantry.

The GS is pre-polish and was all done in one continuous sitting (ie, no stage-by-stage curing of putty, just simply moving from one mini straight onto the next).

EDIT: And the merit of posting images on LAF is once again proved as I just noticed I left the tail off of the mounted banner bearer's waist sash!

Brilliant.  :) Your ability to piece these figures together from such a mishmash of different donor parts is amazing and then end result on each one is outstanding. The individuality you can create is mind boggling ;D
