Another tough choice but those DAK figures really are something special indeed.

Robert, the guy on the right - a conversion? He's hilarious (in a good way)!

Thanks Robert.
I am rather smitten with these Perry Afrika Korps figures. But they are damned small and fiddly to paint  :(

Conversely, I'm not a fan of the Warlord ECW plastics. But you have done a truly excellent job on these. You've made them look really good indeed, and I agree with Von Lucky - the guy in the leprechaun hat is hilarious and rather brilliant  :)

Wow to both, really nice
I think this is your best entry so far Richard I Think and I'm not a great fan of 28mm WW2 stuff
The building is also superb - same source as the GOT ones?

Thanks Kerry. No, it's a good old fashioned Islamic tomb by Hovels (I think). Had it for donkey's years  :)

In this case i thought nobody really knows what the well-dressed village idiot was wearing when he went off to war!

Again a complex diorama layout is put up against a simple, excellent painted small unit.  How about matching similar formats?

Again a complex diorama layout is put up against a simple, excellent painted small unit.  How about matching similar formats?

??? ???

1. Pairings are decided automatically based on positions in the league.

2. The format of these two pictures is the same, surely? A small bunch of painted miniatures photographed in front of a terrain / scenic backdrop. In one case it's grassland with a scenery backdrop of rocky outcrops and trees. In the other it's sand, with a scenery backdrop of a (very old) resin building plus a few bits and pieces of set dressing. Not exactly a complex diorama. And in terms of the format, not materially different.

3. The format of submitted entries isn't down to the organiser, it down to the participants. Beyond five painted miniatures (and barring digital manipulation), entrants can dress up their entries as far as they want. That's the deal. The LPL is about encouraging people to paint figures and produce the most attractive and appealing pictures they can using those figures. Some people go the scenic route, some people don't. It's been that way for 8 years, and it's not going to change. Sorry if that's not the competition you're looking for, but everyone that takes part and reads the rules understands that's the deal. They make their choices about how they present their entries accordingly.

The only way you could get units against each other to be the same is if every grouping had to be pictured in a white booth.  This would take a lot of the fun and inspiration away from the LPL

The trick when voting is to zone out the scenery and concentrate on the figures before making your final decision.  Often those in the best setting are also the best figures as it needs that certain artistic flair in both cases (I'm sure there is a great French phrase for this but hey I was born in the Midlands)

These are both inspirational and great examples of painted work
