I do think this kind of proves alot of the Old/Middlehammer disbelievers wrong though. These were quality sculpts saddled with below average paintjobs and poor photography.

 lol

The original shock marine paint jobs used by Urban Mammoth were also my paint jobs and photo's. I've improved a little since though.  ;) There are some really nice models in the UW catalogue and whilst most of them have been surpassed by more modern day sculpting they still hold up pretty well, especially given how popular much older miniatures are. I'm really enjoying painting these up but I don't think my enthusiasm is really catching on.

Apologies good sir. I didn't realize, it just seems a shame that such nice minis are overshadowed by GW.

Wow. Can i ask what green you used as a base for your shock troopers? Its perfect as that general army green colour I never seem to get right.

No problem, some of the stuff I did for UM was a little rushed. The photo's weren't great to begin with and were just to show the work had been done. I'm surprised UM didn't do better ones. We won't mention my Syntha paint jobs.  ;) The guy who painted a lot of their stuff later on was fantastic though.

It's a base mix of VMC Russian Uniform WW2 and VMC Olive Brown (used to be called US Olive Drab before that name was given to a different colour entirely). Highlight with more Russian Uniform, add VGC Desert Yellow and finally a bit of VGC Bonewhite. I used washes over that as well. A thin mix of GW Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade and also some rusty weathering done with thinned VGC Parasite Brown.

Got my heavy gauss rifle conversion painted up at last.

And a group shot of all the regular colonial marines as a squad. You might be able to spot the ones I painted 13 years ago by the slightly rougher looking paint chipping on the armour.

Outstanding as usual. You are still one of the fantastic four painters in the world...

Wow, not sure I'd agree with that but thanks for the praise.   :D
