The original Stargate movie. For the sense of investigating ancient ruins and mysterious new worlds. That could easily have turned out to be full of things Man Was Not Meant To Know!

Similarly Disneys Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet

Let me add two more and I'll stop. Forbidden Planet and Howard Hawks'  Thing from Another World. Us old-timers know that James Arness of Gunsmoke/Marshall Matt Dillon fame played the alien "vegetable-man".

Holy! This is a bunch of stuff thanks guys. Obviously, this should in some sort of vague way loop back around as some sort of Mythos thing. I will do a mention if any movies I come across have surprising connections...Anyway, Earther is correct about Spacehunter. I was blown away...can't believe that 16 year old me missed out on this movie. So good and yet so bad. Also, Mythos connections: nuthin'.

Forbidden Planet is perfect for Mythos shenaigans. Replace the Great Machine with a slumbering Elder God bound by an ancient race and forced to materialise their every whim. Their every whim turns out to be horrific monsters that wipe them out.

Millennia pass, until the planet is visited by a colony ship from Earth, and the Great Old One stires in its sleep.

End result is a Threshold strike team needing to shoot their way through elder god manifested monsters from the id to take out the last remaining colonist before the gods eye turns to human colonists in neighbouring systems.

Ghosts of Mars, in which Ice Cube and The Chick From Species battle colonists possessed by the spirits of long dead Martians on a terraformed red planet!

See also the set of Mars papercraft terrain from World Works Games

Pitch Black, in which Vin Diesel is awesome.

The Andromeda Strain, in which an elite team of scientists in a purpose built underground facility investigate an Alien pathogen carried to earth by a space probe

Cleaning up the trouble created by elite scientists in expensive research facilities messing with things Man Was Not Meant To Mess With is a common job for THRESHOLD agents of the future

Check out Pandorum with Dennis Quaid. It's got some stuff you could 'borrow'.

What about trying to unify them all under a Hellboy type banner?  You could have an evil organization (like AIM or HYDRA) trying to create an army of atomic zombies or Portal demons.  You could create Threshold agents with new science fiction abilities as well.    If it was set in the 1950s you could still use a lot of your old miniatures.
