Ok a small explanation is in order about the LEGO...

The idea is to use blocks fitted with plasticard and tubes as chimneys. The large antennas will be fitted with satellite dishes and tv antennas.

Wires will also be fitted to the pylons to give that chaotic wiring effect - just need to be carefull about blocking the roof lids.

...Also they will serve as a easier means to lift the lids...

Very nice terrain - the little details are really going to pop when they make it on the table.

Just discovered this and I have to say it is really shaping up into something special.
 :-* :-*

That is a great idea for making the roads and the pimping of the MDF buildings is coming along really well indeed.

Yup, another update!

Got some work done on adding wires and roofs - Added antennas and satellite dishes and extended some of the LEGO chimneys and added tubes - The Chimneys have two, well three purposes:

1 - They provide a solid hnadle for removing the roofs to gain access inside.

2 - Create some roof clutter/detail.

3 - It just looks cool!

With 4 buildings about 95% done, I couldn't help giving them a splash of basepaint - I also use this to sort of get my bearing on any details I might have forgotten or left out.

Next up, is detaling on the last 5 buildings and then starting on the 10th, which is kinda new - The one Tabula Rasa didn't really suit me, so I've hacked and slashed two buildings from SG2, one of which will take its place...

..Or, inspired by Nimrod - I might just do a Gasstation and put in place...

Anyhoo, in no particular order; PICTURES!

Brlliant!!
 :-* :-*

The base coating really brings all the disparate elements together and shows what a true work of art you have created.

Great stuff, the use of lego for detailing really works well, once its base coated they fit in with the buildings, and add a nice extra level of interest.

All of these small electrical bits look very fitting here.  :-*

Will definitely borrow that idea for my city building project in progress.  ;)

Love the continuation of this  :)

I must admit that when I first saw the mdf buildings I gave a little shudder but it's good to see what you have done with them  8)

Thank you all!

Small update on the layout: I had some issues with one of the buildings - It didn't really fit - and I kinda, slightly, screwed it up, by laying on too heavy with the texture paint.

So...

I decided to swap it out for one of two, I still around from SG2.

I've only just cut the the MDF base, glued on the base structure and started on the cork layer as per the other sets.

The building itself allready has some texture paint on, but still needs some more, plus all the detailing... I will try to take some more pictures along the way, so you can follow the process ;)

Looking great! All the detailing is very effective, especially the cabling. What are using to make the cables?

Thank you.
For wires, I've begun to use 1mm soldering wire - soft enough to bend, yet strong enough not to break.

This is an epic thread 8). Love the way you're tackling everything and I see lots of useful things I can use myself for my Cyberpunk table. So 2 thumbs up!

...So it continues...

Did more work on the new building - Added some walls (I love the Tamiya 1/35 Brick wall set) and some roofing detail.

Gave it all a light layer of texture paint and a spray of mixed effect paint. Then a quick black one to tie in the work.

Next up is more roof detail and wires.

...More to come soon-ish!

Spectacular build! Really impressed with your attention to detail with the extra brickwork, and all the bits and bobs you've added on to make it your own. Looks fantastic.
