Any chance of seeing this board at Tactica in Hamburg.  It's 'only' 4 hours away. ;)

Well...its done!

Actually no, its not done, but the primary colours are all done - now for weathering and detail.

After that I'll be completing the bases - any overbrush or drybrush unto the buildings will simply add to weathering.

Also got a few loose pieces that needs to be done, but hey.. Its coming along nicely.

Added some palm trees and the plan is to mount them with magnets - Because magnets!

The palms and other greens will provide a good colour offset to all the dusty browns.

...And I finally settled on a name for the table "Quryat Al Shabah" - it simply translates to "Spectre/Ghost village" a bit corny, but has a ring to it I like.

Overall I still have a lot of loose end - But I do believe I can do it...

Right then - Still alive!

Ok so this will not be a regular update, as such - More of a "hey look what I discovered"

Modelmates Rust!

That stuff is THE shiznitz when weathering metals and adding rust to... whatever!!

Just paint it on and leave to dry - instant multi-layered rust patches - Awesome.

I've used it to paint the antennas, satellite dish, light posts and other stuff where I needed a "worn galvanised iron" look.

I airbrushed a layer of VA Dark Sea Grey, followed by a heavy stippling of Rust.

Then I lightly airbrushed (almost a dusting) VA Light Grey on to that.

The Rust still shows, but is very mutted and gives a good worn look.

Still a few details to paint and posters, graffiti and litter to add, but the table is nearing 100%!

Crisis is only just around the corner and I promise to take and post lots of pictures of the finished table - If you're at Crisis, come find me and say hi!

Looking great. Can't wait to see the finished article.  Thanks for the tip about the rust paint.  I have a great use for it.

Still in awe of your wonderful work there. The finished product will be a sight to be behold for sure! 8)

I'll be dropping by at Crisis and take a detailed look at your table for sure!

I'll be sure to post some pictures of the finished table.

Hopefully no later than sunday night - drive from Copenhagen to Antwerp is 9 hours straight...

I am new to this thread but I am very impressed with what I see. The road caught my eye as it looks amazing, and I really like you idea of having a modular lay out, but raised to the same level as the pavement as this avoids the obvious bases on buildings so typical of modular terrain.

when I read that you were going to use MDF buildings I was a bit disappointed as the road looked so good I was expecting some scratch built terrain of a similar high standards. It just shows that I shouldn't be so quick to judge. What you have done with the MDF terrain is awesome- the best 'conversion' of MDF buildings I have ever seen- a true master class on what you can do with these kits if you try. I love the lego bits, and all the dangerously exposed wiring.

I will be watching very closely from now on. a big well done from me.

Echoing the words of Rob_bresnen, and like I wrote earlier, very inspiring work on the table and scenery. You can consider many of your ideas stolen ;) Eg. I think I need to place an order for some Lego bits soon :D

By the way, how wide are your roads? They look like a perfect fit to my untrained eyes.

Happy gaming in Antwerp!

Wow - Thank you for those kind words!

Seriously, thanks!!

Everything is packed and ready to go - but I think the road width from curb to curb is 18cm.
