Pffff! 'Ride to ruin and the world's end' was Eomer's line. His exploits at the Pelennor Fields made him one of my favourite characters (after Sam, of course). But old Petey dumped all the stuff he did that made him cool and gave his best lines to other people. <sulking>

Lovely job, H. Good man.

The arrival of the Rohirrim is I think my favourite part in the entire trilogy. This passage:

"Old fool!" he said. "Old fool! This is my hour. Do you not know Death when you see it? Die now and curse in vain!" And with that he lifted high his sword and flames ran down the blade.

And in that very moment, away behind in some courtyard of the city, a cock crowed. Shrill and clear he crowed, recking nothing of war nor of wizardry, welcoming only the morning that in the sky far above the shadows of death was coming with the dawn.
And as if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns, in dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the north wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.”

Reading that as a teenager I think I put the book down, stunned. What a way to end a chapter.

Well, well, well, what have we here...

The completed build from this build thread:

They lady with the jug is from Perry Miniature, WotR range. I have painted a whole bunch of civilians for Rohan, most of them from Perry Miniatures WotR and Crusades ranges. They work very well with the GW LotR miniatures as the Perry twins did most of them (at least early on).

Very kind of you to say, thank you.

I am mulling over what to do next. The King’s game keeper’s cottage? The Arsenal?
