...or did I get that quote right? Anyway, I caught your attention, didn't I?
I have had these giant eagles of various brands perching on my lead pile for a while, three from GameZone being the latest arrivals. As the lead guano has been building up I thought it was high time to give them a lick of paint. Quite a quick paintjob, to be honest, involving a basecoat of VanDyke brown, a dark brown wash and then s few passes with the drybrush (these round makeup applicators really are a wonder). and details painted in in yellow, black, golden brown and tan.
An action shot to start with...
As you can see a couple of them are quite a bit smaller, the Grenadier ones, old purchases, but the are still quite nice so I thought I'd add them as fledglings.
One of the bigger ones...
..is one of the *excellent* sculpts from GameZone and quite a joy to paint.
Another one from the same company...
..is just as much a beut. Very dynamic poses...
...even though the mold for the wings have been reused between the three sculpts. A closeup of the eagles head tells you a bit of the quality of the sculpts.
Compare this with the Games Workshop Gwaihir...
Not a shit sculpt but a bit wooden.
As for the Grenadier eagles...
A bit dinged up as they have suffered at the bottom of the lead pile for a while but still came OK, if I may say so myself.
Now, as for the playability of these supercharged birdies, I have little experience. Seems like a scenario could be very one sided with all these six in play.
