Nice work Peder. Your passion for this adventure in miniature really shows.
Best wishes,
Helen

Yes. And my absentmindedness. We left the piece outside in pouring rain overnight... Sometimes I'd like to shoot myself.  :(

As I made known publicly in another post, I some time ago was lucky enough to, for a steal, be offered a Games Workshop Rohan Settlement box from a man tired of life. So I pounced!

This is my first build out of a multitude of possibilities:

Let me just from the get go state that these kits are the shit! Better than any plastic terrain piece I have ever built. I am often hesitant to praise GW, but credit were credit's due.

Two of this plastic injection mould comes together to create one basic unit, like a thatched cottage, with plenty of details architectural pieces to spare. You can, by combining basic "building blocks" (walls, vestibules, extensions...) create all kinds of buildings, from a simple pigs pen to a great hall. As they are made from hard plastic, they of course lend themselves to custom extensions and modifications with whatever profile polystyrene sheet and scrap bitz you have at hand.

I think I have about 10 frames left from which I plan to make a full settlement, iron age style, with stables, smithy, armoury, bingo hall, strip club....

Can you tell I am having fun? Well, I am. And as I am that kind of person, the fluff of just what and where this settlement is just keeps pouring out as I tinker. More to come about that later...

I’ve used and am using the Laketown Village for a similar building adventure: the GW ME buildings are extremely versatile kits. Am looking forward to seeing what more you do.  8)

Yes, I have seen them and they are great looking. I have three sets myself, and sometime in the future plan to do a smallish Laketown board on water. You know, poured resin and such,,,

Oh, I forgot to say I have umpteen lenghts of pallisades with watchtowers to match. They are also very nice, but pallisades are not really had to scratch build so I would not purchase them if I had not gotten them in a good deal like this.

These palisades need some tinkering with anyway, or you'll have a very loooong straight wall of timber across your gaming board.

And here is the Farrier's Smithy.

The farrier is *in*.

All the accoutrements of the smithy.

Wideshot of the farriers yard.

The farriers with today's customers. The knight and farrier is a Mithril Miniatures set. I did the knight in my usual Riders of Rohan color scheme.

The layout of the farrier's yard.

The bulk of the kiln and chimney, seen from the back.

An angle which shows some more tools.

The farriers shack, the part built from GWS Rohan house kit.

If you are interested in the build process I have done a writeup here.

Thanks And no thanks! Making miniature lumber frames like this is quite time consuming. As is painting little fiddly tools.

Instead I will build and paint a Royal stud farm, I think. All to for my own gratification.
