Hi guys

I picked these 3 Buzz light year ships up, pic with a 15mm figure for scale, I’m trying to decide how to finish them, if they all had different colours I’d probably treat them the same, trying to preserve the colours and weather them, but as they are the same/similar I’m thinking of preserving 1(probably No. 7) and re painting the other 2, because the grey colours are bare plastic with the blue/orange areas being paint, how would you go about detailing and weathering?  My list of options, any other ideas?

1- seal the ship with a spray varnish, then add washes etc and go from there?

2 - leave bare, use enamels or oils for washes, then seal and proceed?

Those are a cool find.

I would "rescale" the cockpit to better match 15mm.  For example, cover all except the front part of the canopy for on the left one.

You can also cover all the glass and make it a drone fighter.

I am feeling a total paint rework to match you BT theme.  Beige and Red highlights.  Maybe all red?

have fun.

Yeah, I’ll cover most of the cockpit.

Cockpits are actually fine IMHO, a good repaint would work wonders though!

Nice find  8)

Hi guys

Have given No. 7 a black oil pin wash, filled in the canopy, and an acrylic clear matte sealer, already looking much better, the bare plastic look isn’t as bad, next I’ll do some decals, highlights, slight battle damage and ware n tare, then maybe another wash and sealer. The other 2 already look much better with a grey undercoat, the middle one may end up a light pastel green with yellow highlights, the other will be either cream or light grey with red highlights. I also picked up a larger buzz light year ship that I’ll paint next, it could be used for 28mm or 15mm, pictured with a 28mm fig for reference.

Gosh those really are some great ships out of the box. Though the white and blue trio make me think they should combine somehow XD

Gunner

Those look amazing, specially after your touch ups!  I really like that number 07 fighter.  Under what name or title is it being sold?  Is it part of a specific collection or range?

Thanks

Dan

Those are great! I had to go and put them on my wish list! Those are going to look great on a tarmac at some spaceport.

Dan - and others interested here in the states,

Those Buzz Lightyear ships are from Disney and I found a couple at local Wal-Marts, I believe there are four total ships in the line then a fifth pack that might be useful as a terrain item - still pondering.  Will probably get the other two ships.  Found mine while searching for Star Wars items, found the great Hot Wheels range as well as the larger Squadron models that I think are too big for 15 mm.  Each ship comes with a figure.  I posted a picture in my own Star Wars 15 mm thread of the figures but here it is;

The unpainted 15 mm figure is a Rebel Minis Mech Pilot.

I plan to use mine as battlefield debris so will really "mess them up" when I get to work on them.  Heck, I might get double bang for my buck and chop them each into at least halves to get more downed ships in the battlefield.

I just found this image of the range:

So far, I have the 07 and the 15 models.

Thoughts on the rockets as 15 mm terrain?

Aren't those more like drop pods instead of rockets though? They would certainly not look out of place on any scifi battlefield, be it as drop pods, pylons, energy nodes or what have you...

Daeothar,

You are probably right.  Still haven't decided about getting them, they are pretty big for 15 mm.  Will see - have to revisit a Wal-Mart to return a few items so hope they have one I can look at again.

From the picture they would be very good 40k drop pod transporting Space Marines, support guns and tanks onto the battlefields of the 41st millennium.
