15mm Dark Age Fantasy for Mayhem (Cultists on pg.2)
« on: June 06, 2016, 08:05:02 PM »
Hello

I have finally decided to start acting on some ideas I have had floating around for a while. I have been in possession of Mayhem and like the idea of it - but after reading through Hobgoblins thorough overview of the system I have started putting these ideas into some sort of practice.

Using the Copplestone, Demonworld, Thane's Games wolfen fantasy miniatures and some Bluemoon and Westwind/Forged in Battle ancients I plan on having a few factions to allow for variety. No real plans to play any games as yet, but I see this as a way of staying focused on a project for more than a miniature or two - but I have been getting distracted even while doing this - but that is for another topic. Enough rambling I will update my ideas as I go along to give you (and me) some idea of where I am going with this.

I started with some Copplestone dwarf command figures.

Tried my hand at some scenery - Fenris Viking standing stones
Offering Stone

Sacrifice Stone

Blood Rage Giant

Group Shot with another command group that I cannot get a good shot of and some other less interesting scenery

Thanks for looking.

Very good start to your project.

Any chance of a picture of the Dwarves next to the Giant please?

Brilliant stuff - and very evocative terrain!

I'm beavering away at my (distinctly less impressive!) Mayhem forces at the moment. One thing I plan to do is to stat up the units as I go. I'll put the stats on my painting thread; it would be interesting to compare notes as we go.

Here you go.

Sounds good - I will have to reread the rules as I did so a while ago, but it will hopefully help keep my focus on this one project.

Thanks for the picture with the Dwarves and Giant. They do look like they work really well together.

The Fenris range has some great scenery pieces in it.

Looks like this project will be one i will follow with great interest.

Now to dig out my Copplestone 15mm miniatures ;).

Did you paint the banner yourself or is it bought/printed?

No worries.

I know what you mean. I was the same had a whole bunch of Copplestone minis that were languishing in the lead pile, but this project idea gives me something to do with them, as well as a bunch of other 15mm minis I have sitting around.

The banner is a smaller one from Little Big Men 28mm dark age bestial design transfer sheet - thought it was appropriate.

Stop this immediately! It is exactly the kind of thing I would like to do, but just don't have the time.

or

Looking at them now forgot they were that expensive  :o I had originally got them for a 28mm project that fell by the wayside, but will have to see if I can fit the larger ones in somewhere now...

I would be interested in seeing/hearing how the Battle Valor games scale.

I will definately be following this thread.

Thanks - a lot of your 15/18mm stuff has proven to be inspirational.

Stop this immediately! It is exactly the kind of thing I would like to do, but just don't have the time.

Sorry - if I stop I will get distracted by something else within minutes. Feel free to share ideas/offer advice as I go along.

First of the "bad guys". Will be using the mythos of Cthulhu: Dark Ages as a basis for one of the factions. These are the corrupted shells of the followers of the Ancient Ones. I was thinking of a drow/slaaneshi cultist colour scheme (with a lot less pink), but think I spent too much time ogling ZeroTwentyThree's undeadish - with these results.
