42nd Highlanders 28mm
« on: June 17, 2016, 04:18:51 AM »
Hi all

Just posted my first completed Highlander battalion. I was going to say only, but apart from a few problems I had the painting of the kilts was not what got me frustrated. Next one is the 79th and they will be a breeze  lol

Mostly Victrix with Perry arms used here and there. Two metal minis in the 'unit'.

Cheers
Brian

Spiffing!

I love the almost understated style that makes them look so natural.

Very nice
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Bonjour Brian,

Splendid chaps!

I've never been brave enough to paint any but may follow your example as I've got a few already which were purchased painted.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Paul

Well done. I think they look just dandy.

I know what you mean about the kilts and bonnets. I'm currently doing the 71st Light with dicing on their stiffened Kilmarnock bonnets (looks a bit like a blue shako) and I agree, kilts are much easier to do just because the area is much bigger and you can simplify the tartan to get a good effect, the bonnet band is simply a pain. Well done though, respect is due to anyone who tackles the Scots.

Thanks. I used to try to paint every part of the model and it took me months to get anything done. Now I do a much simplified technique I found on a Youtube tutorial and I can actually get units turned out pretty quickly.

They look great Brian,
I'm avoiding highlanders at the moment, even picking the 4th Division at Talavera to do next as the Battalion of Detachments in this Division only had one highlander in it.

Tony.

Great minds and all that... I was thinking last night of doing a Battalion of Detachments soon as well.
