Dark Alchemy Scenario 1 AAR
« on: June 18, 2016, 08:08:13 AM »
OK, so tonight I decided to play through the Dark Alchemy campaign's first scenario. I have had the table set up for it since last Satyrday, but for some reason I couldn't get myself playing until tonight.

^Here we have the starting positions. I had Elektra (my Soothsayer Wizard) and one each of Archer, Man At Arms, and Thug.

^By turn 3, I had already lost my Man At Arms, the Thug and Elektra both had a treasure token each, the Archer had dispatched a rat, and Elektra was posed to go through the proper door. In the upper left, you can see some of my snow-themed Frostgrave terrain for games in Felstad with my gaming buddies instead of la familia.

^Here we are at the end of turn 3 from the other side of the board, the Archer has the Alchemical Monstrosity coming right at him!

^During Turn 4, both Elektra and the Thug escaped with their Treasures, leaving the poor Archer to fight two rats and the Alchemical Monstrosity on his own! He was able to hold his own against the Alchemical Monstrosity and dispatch the rats for a couple more turns, but finally fell to the oozing tentacles...

Elektra managed to finish with two treasure tokens, yielding a Grimoire of Invisibility, Construct Oil, 35 gc, and 105 experience. So she will be level 1 for the next scenario (which I might play tomorrow!)

Overall I thnk the scenario is reasonably balanced. If balance is a 50/50 proposition, then losing 50% of my warband and recovering 50% of the treasure sounds just about right.

Incidentally, I also played the solo campaign with Soothsayer and finished scenario with two treasure tokens.

What spells does your wizard have?
