Perry Northern Militia
« on: June 02, 2016, 08:25:38 AM »
Here's a little piece that I made, depicting some Perry Northern Militiamen firing from behind a rail fence. The kneeling guy is an Old Glory figure with a KMM head. I wanted to experiment with some tall grass patches and some vines.
All of the terrain was made by me, including the fence, which I made by taking a Lemax fence apart and re-configuring it. I cut slices into the planks and generally carved things up to make it appear more realistic.
The groundwork was my usual mixture.

I made the tree from a sagebrush twig.
The tall grass was made by spreading tacky glue on the places where I wanted the tall grass to appear. I use the fly swatter gizmo to make the grass.

Really nice sculpts from the Perry's. Painted by the wonderful Mr. John Bryant.

By the way, notice how much bigger these figures are compared to the early Perry sculpts. Scale Creep indeed!!

Nice. The tall grass looks good. What's the terrain material between miniature 4 & 5 in the first photo? Looks like blackberry. (Was there blackberry in North America at this time?)

(I don't want to disappoint, because your work doesn't.)

extremely nice. I take it you're not using these in games? It looks more like a diorama

Wow, that's possibly your nicest piece yet, Bill. The tall grass and sheer variety of different ground covers going on there make it look real.

Lucky,      Nope, not Blackberry. Although, I have blackberries all over my yard. so I am guessing they are indigenous to North America, specifically New York. Those are just common vines, that grow everywhere in the outdoors here. You should be able to see them climbing up the fences in places.

General, No I am not a gamer. I just enjoy making these.

Lucky,  They are model RR vines made by JTT. Try a local model RR shop or any number of internet sources.

This is the companion piece to the new Northern Militia thread, in case you wish to compare.
