Size of Scheltrum Miniatures?
« on: January 20, 2009, 12:16:27 AM »
Hello, fellas and dames,

I'm planning an undersea outing and I'm looking at sources for diving suits. So far, I've located HLBS, Reverisco, and Scheltrum.
Unfortunately, however, while I have other figs from the Reverisco and HLBS ranges, I've never actually held or had a chance to compare the size of Scheltrum miniatures to other ranges.

That having been said, can anyone tell me how Scheltrum figs, specifically their divers, look compared to these (or other) ranges? I suspect that the Reverisco 28s would be smaller, given that he works to a truer scale, but I'm wondering if at least the HLBS divers would work well with the Scheltrums?

If not in the same unit, perhaps at least they wouldn't look out of place on the same tabletop?

Thanks in advance for your advice on this. Oh yes, and if you've got other sources for these sorts of things, by all means feel free to share.

Regards,

Doc

Don't know about those ranges, but we're working on our own. We've got the big hardsuit I previewed over in futurewars on the way from the sculptor, and I'm halfway through with the first set of four divers.

And we just released a giant crab...

The scheltrum divers are very chunky figures and would look a little bulky next to the HLBSC figures. But they have a certain charm and on the table as separate factions I'd do it.

I do like that "not bio-shock" figure. Would probably be useable as an automaton too. He does suffer from "Space Marine Hip" though. A terrible miniatures malady that makes walking extremely painful, maybe it's responsible for all this war nonsense in our games? ;D
So many projects..... so little time.......

Love that figure too. Anxiously awaiting it being available to buy, along with the mentioned divers.

Now, if only I could work out some subs.

The owner of Scheltrum is a good friend of mine.

We dont have much call for diving suits in the wastes of Askaristan, but let me know what figs you are specifically intereted in and I'll check and email you a pic.

Malamute -

Unfortunately, I have not, though a friend in the UK mentioned them to me the last time I was working on a VSF project. The site seems to have stripped away most of the 28mm listings in preparation for the move for 40mm minis. Any chance you'd have access to pictures of them? Or would anyone else have them, for that matter? I could definitely be interested in having a look.

His Excellency, the most revered Emir...

I'm grateful for the offer. I've got a general idea of what they look like from the site (which appears to be down at the moment). Hope all is well with him - I really like his line. Did Scheltrum ever do any submarines? Perhaps full hulled types that could be used in an undersea game?

I don't have any pictures of the HLBSC ones. I know there was a nice spherical diving bell and I am sure there was a small cigar shaped one/two man sub. The diving bell is perfect for VSF and the sub would work well too.
I have never seen one in the flesh or indeed photgraphed anywhere other than their site.
Although from memory there was a thread running here on LAF about underwater adventures either on the VSF, pulp or other adventures boards a year or so ago. I'll see if I can find it.

Malamute -

If you do happen to find 'em, let me know. I'll search, as well. It's too bad they aren't listed on his site. Losing that range will really be a blow. And I still haven't finished my German Camel Korps...

Evil Giraffe -

His work has a lot of character. Like a lot of what I see. Even tankettes for my VSF Italians!;) How does one place an order?

The only one full hulled submarine, I know, was produced by Reviresco.
It is a kind of Nautilus. I don't know whether it is still available.
