Hello,

I have budget of 100£ and want maybe to start ECW with 100% warlord plastic. So are they good sculpts, worth their money?
(Another possibility is WOR/HYW plastics from perry, but of course not for the ECW!)
So gamers what do you think?

For ECW I would check out this Blog, lots and lots of Warlord Games plastics used to very nice effect.

http://shedwars.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/ECW

I have a colleague who has painted lots of these and they all look very nice. For ECW I prefer Renegade or Bicorne but obviously plastics are significantly cheaper.

For HYW and WOTR just look around here, there are countless topics on both. Having seen both manufacturers I think the Perry plastics are nicer than Warlord's but I suppose it's really up to you to decide which period you prefer.

As an initial purchase I don't think you'll find better value than the Warlord plastics. If you want the expand then Perry miniatures fit in well with Warlord.

The joy of plastic also means that you can chop and change your figures as much, or as little, as you want:

Unless you consider a smaller scale?
£100 would get quite a bit of 15mm or 10mm metal, possibly enough to get a discount from some traders.

Thanks  Mr J for plugging my blog

As has been reported the vast majority of my ECW army were built from Plastics - certainly the best value available.

All my plastics were bought on ebay and I targetted the battalia box sets and King & country sets. You can still find these on occasion for reasonable prices

good luck

Personally, just from looking at photos on the web, I prefer the Perry WOTR plastics to the Warlord ECW/ TYW plastics.

I'm not a big fan of plastics so accept the fact this colours these comments - the Warlord ECW cavalry aren't too bad but the infantry are below average and the combination of postures is not ideal. On the plus side they are very cheap and are thus not a bad way of accessing this period. Hope this helps.

x about a million percent in my opinion.
I love the Perry medieval plastics. I find the Warlord ECW plastics stylised and odd. Not awful, but not in the same league.
But as we know with all things wargaming, beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder.

I hope the Perrys will bring some plastic ECW. But it is not Christmas in the moment, no time for wishes...

I think the warlord stuff is flexible and the metal add-ons are superb...not sure why everyone is comparing them to perry plastics from a different period though...

The original poster is trying to choose what period to game in based on the available plastics.

I'd go HYW Free Companies btw.
