And the gears keep on turning, WIP on an APC which should also get some variants. Feedback is always welcome!

Yes, I like that. I feel though an open back would be more fitting so maybe have the dark brown separate?
cheers

Thanks, and yes that is the plan, the dark brown will, in fact, be soft top and there will be a more truck-like rear flap. The soft top should be separate as well, allowing for some variants to be done with simple part swaps.

I sculpted a drop-in APC module for my Gundam Type 74 Hovertruck, figuring that in a world where giant robots tower above, you really don't want to ride into battle in an open-topped vehicle!

The canvas top is an elegant solution, but I wonder if an armoured top would give a better impression of an APC, given we wargamers also tower above our battlefields?
Operating from an abandoned US spy base somewhere in the Australian outback, Miniature Martin produces games and scale miniatures set in parallel worlds, past and future. He is NOT trying to take over the Earth. This time.

armored top would make a lot more sense, but the soft top is much more in keeping with the whimsy of the setting as well as the strange designs of ww1 and interwar tanks. Many of those had their exhausts inside, chocking the crew, so a badly thought out soft top fits right in I think.  ;D

an honest question at the mods, which would be Oshiro/james I guess. Should I be tagging this commercial? It's not my product, but I'm getting paid to make it.

I'm not a mod anymore mate but I would say it's up to you.

This thread is a goldmine of Ghibli ideas so I might suggest you make a new (COMMERCIAL) thread with the actual finished designs on it that will be going into production and keep this one as is.

ah, my bad. The problem with a setup like that would be that it seems like most stuff I make for this is bound to be sold and produced by now, which is why I feel a bit sneaky presenting this as a personal project, as it has evolved into full-on commission work by now, it just also happens to be something I really like making.

My completely unofficial take on it is that you use the commercial tag I’d you are trying to sell stuff. If you’re just showing off the cool stuff you’re working on, it’s not commercial, even if it’s going up for sale.

There’s a fuzzy middle ground, of course. But if you ask yourself “Am I trying to sell something here?” and can honestly say no, then it’s not commercial.

I was pretty happy with where the APC sat design-wise, so I decided to print a prototype. The soft top still needs a bit more shaping to sell the cloth look, but this was a good test for its size and overall shaping. Quite happy with how this one came out in the flesh, I think it will look quite nice in groups.

Additionally, I printed a test of one of the variant turrets for the heavy tank, an armour hunter with long guns for one.

Wooden flooring on tanks makes sense right?  :P

Cheers, well I guess most dieselpunk slots into the weird world war 2 spot, right?

Now with a viable hull and design it is time to do what every military does, press the vehicle into other roles both suited and in particular, unsuited for its design!

First up a recovery and engineering version, a crane back rake and front winch to tow trash and help dig trenches.

And naturally, in such a conflict with trenches and fortifications, a flame tank would arise. Notice that the back door has been plated in and the entire crew of this fuel transporting machine must bail out through the top hatch in case of emergency.
