Sharp Practice 2 stuff - deployment points
« on: June 28, 2016, 04:42:03 PM »
I decided to make some Shock markers for Sharp Practice that didn't involve piles of counters or dice that were accidentally rolled or moved. Mdf bases with dice frames and mini dice from Minibits. A bit of caulking and sand for texture with the odd small stone for variety. Painted as I'd normally do my bases with a few grass tufts and some flower tufts in orange I got that I didn't expect to use. As it is they go ok with the orange dice.

Clearly identifiable Shock is pretty critical in Sharp Practice so it was worth doing something long-term. We used the untufted markers at the weekend and they worked very well.

I've deliberately made them generic so they can be used for any of our Black Powder games.

They work!

The minibits dice frames are very handy they really make a difference in stopping mini wound dice from rolling around. I've used them both on the base of figures as well as stand alone.

Absolutely.  We got a bit tired of accidentally picking up the wound dice or knocking them over. We tried tiddlywink counters but they didn't look right and you couldn't always tell at a glance what the Shock level of a group as.

We use red "starfish-shaped" plastic beads that came from a charity shop.
They were in a big bag of mixed beads that also included yellow, blue, white and turquoise "starfish" - those have gone into the Frostgrave stack for spell markers (wall of ice etc)
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Nice work indeed.  I got some of the same frames from Warbases and put mine on pennies.  Yours are much prettier!

Cheers Rich

We had the AWI rematch of Sir Bernard vs Colonel Bigger. It was highly entertaining. Not only was it was our first Fisticuffs all but two units got stuck in. The guys are now asking for a mini-campaign!

I'm trying to finish my deployment markers too. The deadline if tomorrow if I recall correctly so I'll be pushing it.

Russian Napoleonic deployment points for the TFL's competition. The first shows the display of an icon,  so that might double as an icon marker too as I intend to make some more generic dps. The second is a musketeer looking after supplies. This one hasn't come out so well in the photo (taken about 45 minutes before the deadline); the figure's nose and cheeks are ruddy after helping himself to the "medical supplies".
