Some goods today from ebay...

One is the old Terminator Chaplain whom I really like.  Since I'll be using my 40K forces for various games I've decided to do a small Imperial Agents style list...some inquisitor types (whom this Chaplain will probably represent) a handful of marines and some sisters of battle kitbashed from Eisenkern models etc.

The other genuine score was a 100% brand new...unscuffed, beautiful Sisters of Battle Codex.  My other codices are a bit beat/worn etc.  This is pristine.  Never had a proper read through so I'll enjoy seeing what they're like.

Nice scores!

I really like the 2nd edition codicies. Not so much to play, but they're packed with fluff, art and figs.   I've got the whole set and I still go back and thumb through them now and then.

I think the Sisters of Battle codex was one of the last codicies released, right?

Yep, that and the Assassins which was actually 3rd edition style cover...but listed as a 2nd edition codex.  I think Chaos/Sisters/Assassins were the later ones.

Of course, I forgot about the Assassins booklet.

I'd be honoured if you'd include my link in the list although I acknowledge I may have strayed slightly from the true path I have always tried to emulate the Rogue Trader ethos !

Added!

Also, stumbled on the new "Grimmstack" stuff coming from 4Ground --- it's supposed to be Steam Punk but I got a distinct Rogue Trader vibe from certain angles.  Not something I'll be needing, but there's just something about it...

I've been busy selling off a buddy's GW horde...so I haven't done much of anything lately.

This is my sci fi skirmish thread. It serves a dual purpose (JDMG and 40K), but it does often have pics of RT and 2nd ed minis in it.

Sir Theo, Audrey and I have been scheming a bit - and 2nd edition is definitely a bit clunky but some simple changes can really make it quicker to play while retaining the feel and fun.  If we get some more games in and get anything ironed out I'll be sure to compile the adjustments.  We re-did the entire psyker phase for instance, making it faster, easier, and just as neat.

Honestly, 2E is clunky. Very clunky in fact.

However the core mechanics work well, and a lot of the rules were fine (although I feel some specific areas need to be adjusted or re-pointed for better balance).

As for the Psychic Phase... Just use the WHFB 8E magic system. Much simpler, and removes the need for cards (and clutter). Still fun too! :)

The Sisters Codex was one of the best from 2E IMO, and certainly some of Gav Thorpe's best story-work I think - I reckon you'll enjoy it greatly! :)

Majorsmith and I will be getting into 40k 2nd Edition soon. I have managed to get hold of all the books but I'm still trying to get hold of the cards. Are the cards quite vital? I assume they will be for the narrative side which is pretty much what interests us, so I best find some...

You'll need the datafaxes...the rest of the stuff is available in print, or there is a really nice PDF of the 2nd ed. Wargear floating around.  Spells you could just use the text available online.  Mission Cards and Strategy Cards?  Skip em.
