Heer car pool - Horch, Blitzs, 251s & a 234

Had fun cranking these out recently, the camo lent itself to a batch painting approach so they all came along quite quickly. The difference between the WG & the wonderful plastic Rubicon Blitz (no bias there, honest  )is quite stark (mainly in the lack of swearing in its assembly compared to the WG, whose cab is a bit of a bugger). I think it's less so with the 251s, (WG top & Rubicon Bottom) both are good kits but the Rubicon edges it - the WG is fractionally bigger (not enough so to stop you using them together) but has the tools molded straight onto the fenders (rather poorly I'm afraid) as opposed to the seperate pieces on the Rubicon.
 (Will hopefully finish the the Horch off - it needs the windows painted this w/end.)

Nice one. Any reason you went for a mix of manufacturers? Just to compare or are you thinking of getting more?

I agree with you about the WG Opel Blitz would never buy another one - looking forward to making my Rubicon one

Cheers, as to why the two different manufacturers, for the 251s (usually something I'd avoid for a single subject) It was mainly down to curiosity as to how they'd compare - that & the WG one coming with crew made me pick it up. With the Blitzs, I had the WG kit a while before the Rubicon one came out - I assumed (huuugely incorrectly as it turned out) that they surely couldn't be that different (we live & learn).That said I still quite like the WG Opel, (mare of a cab notwithstanding) but agree that any others I buy would have to be the Rubicon one (especially once they release their Maultier upgrade sprue).
 The 251s' camo was enjoyable to do, though I'd recommend Panzer Putty or the PK Pro equivalent over blu/white tak, it's way better - easier to shape & isn't the sod that blu tak can be to remove. (However, there is the question of its cost - about £15 for an 80g tin in the UK - that's an awful lot of blu tak! The putty is a dilatant silicone, as are many marketed as novelties for children, usually called something like 'Science Putty', but they're a lot cheaper - usually about £5 for a similar amount, so I think a comparison has to be done.)

Thanks Kane, the windows were made from the clear plastic of blister packaging, stuck on before the cabs were assembled. If you mean why do they look a little fogged up - the matt varnish they were sprayed with at the end, (Windsor & Newton) somehow got under the masking tape - I've been trying to remove it!

Don't! It gives it the look I like. I thought you painted them in greys and black

I see what you mean Kane, in the pic it looks llike I've painted silhouettes of the drivers - in real life - not so much , just looks like a superglue fogging accident!
