Every Confrontation ganger (and some conversions)
« on: July 12, 2016, 10:38:04 AM »
Long time lurker, first time poster...

Hi LeadAdventure folks, some of you might be interested in this, seeing as you don't see all 80 of them together very often. Here is every miniature - both released and unreleased - ever sculpted for GW's Confrontation range. My favourite minis of all time!

Now I guess I better start painting them  lol

Quite a sight! You should head over to the Palatine Hive Facebook group - you'd find some interested folks over there!

I'm rather envious - I'm only missing the Blanche ganger and unreleased Bratt 3 myself. I'd given up ever tracking either down!

Cheers man, if I can get my gangers to look 5% as good as yours do I'll be pretty happy. Haven't picked up a paintbrush since 1994 though.  :(

The two you're missing are definitely the hardest two to get. Took me 6 years to get the Blanche ganger, and 11 years to find Bratt no.3. Collecting this range requires considerable patience  :)

Gosh, that is quite a collection!  :-*

I have something like 65 or so of them, but the prices the unreleased models go for combined with their rarity means that I am highly unlikely to ever add many more. I would love to see see close-up pics of the various different crews.

And yes, you're better get to painting them - lots of folks would love to see these all done up here!  :D

I've got a fair few of the released models but little else. Very jealous.  :-*

Wow quite a collection :o. I thought I was doing well having some Brats & Tech Gang figures with the original plastic arm & weapon sprues. I never know they put out that many miniatures for Confrontation since it was only a collection of rules in White Dwarf.

I remember seeing the Maniac Gangers in GW at the time and being surprised that they hadn't been shown in WD. Wish I'd gotten a pack now! Quite a few different bits and pieces went to store without any fanfare and were quickly forgotten.

Thanks for the kind comments, folks! Audrey and Stone-Cold, I agree it's puzzling these minis didn't get pushed more by GW. There's only a few pics of painted Confrontation minis in WD. The one that hooked me was the Brood Brothers squad in WD 145 I think.

Do you have any terrain to go with it?

Sadly no. Or rather, I do have some in storage on the other side of the world. I have no space in the flat for that kind of luxury.  :'(

It's true, the unreleased stuff only makes sense if, like me, you don't have loads of other projects to spend the hobby budget on. On that note, one thing I have found odd over the years is how popular the Confrontation range has got. 11 years ago I was able to get almost all the released gangers for around £2 per ganger on ebay. Recently I've seen individual Venator and Scavvy gangers sell for £30+ each. Madness! I've paid less for unreleased minis.

As for close-ups, I'll get on to that as I get painting. Although truth be told I have THE FEAR of painting. I was never very good, and it has been 22 years since I last had a go (I was 15 at the time!).... I think it'll be years before I can do these minis justice.

Stone Cold, if you're taking commissions any time, I might hit you up for some assistance on the unreleased stuff  :)

Well, that is a jealously-inducing table full of models!  Nice collection.

As for painting, get to it!  Those figs are far too nice to sit around grey.  As long as you base with gesso and use acrylics, you can easily strip and repaint any you might not be happy with.

I remember the first single Bratt and Scavvy models being shown (I think for a while they were sold together in a pack) and I really liked them but I picked up a blister of Bratts later on when the other sculpts were added and they had the short lived bare plastic arms and weapon sprues (mine had 2 handflamers, 2 stub guns, a handbow and sawn-off shotgun). I certainly remember the brood brother squad. Lots of blue I recall.

Drop me a line later in the year ;)

So, I still haven't painted anything  (so little time for the hobby these days  :'( ). But I did find the time to do a little bit of converting.

Here are three techno-scavvies, inspired by the Ian Miller's scavvy concepts. I had to do them in a rush so didn't have time to strip some of the parts first (easily fixed when it comes to painting). I used parts from everywhere, but the base I'm mainly working from is combining the late-release necromunda ratskins and the forgeworld renegades. They're still very much at the early stage, so any comments and criticism greatly received.

Here's a link to the original art, on Axiom's stunning blog:

Check back in 5 years time if you want to see anything painted  :'( :'(

Nice looking conversions! The guy with the little claw arm is my favourite, I think he nails the Miller look with his odd-looking prosthetic :)
