Wow.  Amazing work, I can't imagine the effort it took to build that.

Very, Very WOW.
Love all the detail doors and windows. Especially the main gate. The whole thing has so much potential for loads of different games.

Hi SB,

Amazing piece of work!

I really love all the local accents and period architecture. The arches really came out well and must have been a bear to carve out.

Alas, my Moors, Arabs, Saracens, Barbary Pirates, etc, still lack a home... LOL  ;)

Again, what a fantastic terrain piece you've created!

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. The whole thing is about 3 feet wide x 4 feet long x 18 inches high in old money. It took me about 6 months of teabreaks and lunch hours to complete (200 plus hours at least)
The green board is a joy to work with. You can cut it easily with a craft knife, even snap partially cut sections cleanly. No need for hot wire cutters etc. Some sections also have applied card flags and stonework.

It can also be sanded, like the tops of the merlons

Like expanded polysterene scenery it is relatively soft, hence the inscribed stonework, so I've had to coat the whole thing in PVA to seal it and give it a hard protective glaze.
For circular towers etc I built up the thing using quadrants, semicircles and circular discs.

I also like what you've done with those GB Moors. I've been wondering what kind of shield designs to paint on my Zamorian guards, now I think I know. And are those Roman auxiliaries? Never realized how good they look as fantasy arabian style soldiers.
Yep, they're Eastern Auxiliary Archers. I remembered the old Airfix ones with lovely scale armour. These have mail but look just as good. BTW some pics of my other GB 'Haradrim'

Thank you for the marvelous in progress pics.  They are very insightful. :)

Can u explain what "green board" is. I'm not sure I've ever seen this stuff in Australia.

Yes the shields and banners are all painted freehand. I spent a long time trying to sketch different designs based on the same theme, with a Middle Eastern inspired twist to blend in with the figures.
The green board is I imagine very similar to the pink Insulation board? mentioned in all the Games Workshop modelling articles. I found a stash in an old packing crate so the whole lot was free
